Jockey

This painting of a jockey is a continuation of the series of figurative watercolors I’ve been working on. Riding on top of the horse in that position doesn’t look comfortable, especially as the horse is galloping full speed around a track. As a child, my sisters and I were horse-crazy, and sketched horses continually. Most of the artwork I did in the beginning was exclusively equine subject matter. Since I paint animal portraits by commission, this focusing on the rider is different for me.
