Crossroads
I spotted this barn in southern Iowa when cruising around looking for interesting landmarks and Midwest structures to paint. It stood at an intersection in the middle of nowhere, very isolated and alone, sitting in the field. No sign of life for miles. I snapped a few pictures to work from later. The day was spent meandering through the countryside. Unfortunately there are not many of these old barns left to admire and paint.
The composition describes the lonely countryside with the barn and utility pole. The square format fits the design better than the usual horizontal format, and is a challenge to work with, but keeps things simple and straightforward.
