The bright red zinnia among the soft pink blossoms of the petunias was my inspiration for this painting. My goal was to combine soft, wet washes of pigment with the bold red zinnia, and also to avoid painting details. Hard to do! It is painted wet-in-wet and I left it unfinished. It did not need anything else added at that point. It’s very hard to resist the temptation of adding more and more.
