This is a collage of astronaut Kalpana Chawla. It is part of my Women of Color exhibit from February 2022, a collection of women who have inspired me and others.

All of my collage papers are done with acrylic pigments. The portrait is designed with pencil first, and colors are chosen before beginning. Sometimes I need to paint a shade/color that I do not have. Usually I spend some time each month creating more painted papers in different variations and shades of each color. My collages are glued to an archival, gessoed board and varnished upon completion.
