Amanda Gorman
This is an acrylic portrait of Amanda Gorman. It is part of a series I am currently working on for my Women of Color exhibition in February 2022. I plan to continue this series and add more inspiring women each year.
A portrait is created first with a drawing. Then I proceed by choosing my hand-painted collage papers that I feel best portray the figure. I use tracing paper for designing, an X-Acto knife for cutting the shapes, and use a glue stick to adhere temporarily to my gessoed board. I strive for flat, simple shapes to describe the features.
