Magenta Bloom
My goal for this painting was to abstract the picture plane using my flower sketches to create a new variation of the natural forms. Collage lends itself well to abstraction, and I edited the shapes and eliminated many of the details. Sometimes too many details are a distraction and weakens the design. The diagonal geometric linear design adds depth to the natural patterns of the flower. Another goal was to limit my palette. I changed the colors of the original sketch and kept the design simple. The tonal pattern adds interest and pattern to the composition.
