Drama Queen
I never tire of painting floral bouquets. This acrylic collage of my poppies is one I created using my photos. During the process I discovered that the Drama Queen variety is actually a hybrid. The color is brilliant red, and although these flowers are not the best for fresh-cut flowers, I set them up in a vase and took numerous pictures to use later. I changed the technique slightly by tearing the shapes, instead of using the X-acto knife, for more interesting and natural flower shapes. Collage is wide open for using different techniques and excellent for any level of artist. Experimentation leads to more ideas — that is why I have embraced this method. This composition is a square format, which is challenging, but good to alternate between the rectangular from time to time.
