Bird Watching #2
This drawing was inspired by my two cats watching the birds on our patio. Their position and watchfulness was wonderful to capture. I sketched the cats thinking they would be still and unmoving, but that was wishful thinking. Even in sleep, they seemed to stretch and move around. I finally took a picture, freezing the moment.
I used my photograph to outline the simple shapes and used a variety of colored pencils. The support is a smooth, hot press heavy watercolor paper. A variety of yellows, burnt orange and raw sienna were used for the ginger cat, Vincent. Jules, the tabby, is a variety of warm light and dark grays.
