BNSF Seven
Lately it seems to me that I have been working on a locomotive series. When I was in Ottumwa last month, I took photos of this engine sitting briefly on the tracks and I took the opportunity to get a variety of photographs, even though it was cloudy. I prefer the morning sunlight and strong shadows. I decided to do this composition in an oblong format, instead of the previous square design. Most of the details were simplified, making the most of the large frontal view and the burnt-orange color of the train. The thickness of the acrylic paints adds interest and texture — which is my goal for the collages. I feel this is a successful, bold design and I’m very happy with the finished artwork.
