Pulaski School
Many years ago, as I was driving from the Bentonsport’s Co-op Gallery, the row of sunflowers planted in front of this old Pulaski school drew my attention. Sunflowers always grab my attention — they are so big and bold and full of color. I stopped on the roadside to take many pictures.
Pulaski is one of those small, charming communities in Iowa that is a unique place to visit. This old school was built in 1908, an Italianate structure and in total disrepair. The yellow-sienna sunflowers standing at attention in front of the old red brick was attractive to me — picture perfect! I have painted many sunflower paintings throughout the years and this is one of my favorites.
