I’m continuing my metalscape series with all the interesting ridged cans and circular lids.  This is the eighth design, and I used a limited palette of burnt sienna and various blues. It took me about a week to paint.  I began by doing a couple thumbnail designs in my sketchbook since I worked from my photograph and had to edit some of the shapes to strengthen the composition. Drawing is a fundamental part of the process for me that’s enjoyable and I find that having a definite structure ahead of time eliminates frustration later on while painting.  I feel the end result is successful and plan to do a few more of these designs.
