Sunflowers & Eucalyptus
I am continually inspired by big, bold sunflower shapes and colors — the design possibilities are endless. Floral compositions are cheery and uplifting to me, especially during this time of the pandemic. I have planted new varieties of flowers in my garden and I use these to draw and paint from life.
When I begin working on a collage, I focus on big shapes and then edit as the design progresses. If something does not feel right to me, I can move shapes and add new ones and vary the colors. This solitude of working in my studio is a calming and learning experience and time seems to stop. The creativity expands and morphs into more ideas, which I jot down in my art journal.
