I spotted this barn in southern Iowa when cruising around looking for interesting landmarks and Midwest structures to paint. It stood at an intersection in the middle of nowhere, very isolated and alone, sitting in the field. more »
The character of old barn shapes inspires me to continue this series of old structures around Iowa. This one is gone and I have worked from my reference photo. It was a very dark, dilapidated barn and was leaning precariously. more »

This particular barn belonged to a dear friend of mine and has been dismantled because of unsafe conditions. The foreground was uninteresting, so I added some bright, bold yellow sunflowers dancing in the wind. more »

The Drama Queen poppy is actually a hybrid variety. The color is brilliant red, and I set them up in a vase for this painting. more »
