Marybeth Heikes recently received an Honorable Mention award for her two collages in the show “An Afternoon with the Blues”. These acrylic collages, Iowa Series #50 and Iowa Series #59 are currently exhibited at the Sanford Museum in Cherokee, Iowa. This annual exhibit opened January 9 and continues through February 3.

The show features paintings that incorporate the color blue. Ms. Heikes’ collages depicts the Iowa landscape with barns, windmills, sunflowers, and silos amid a brilliant blue sky.

The reception included a celebration of artwork, a gallery talk, blues music and blue refreshments. This annual exhibit is located in the West Gallery of the Sanford Museum.

Another of Ms. Heikes’ watercolor, Teapot Series #13, is currently in the Iowa Watercolor Traveling Exhibit, at the Corydon State Bank from January 7 through March 14, 2005.
