Pine Rest Christian Health Services recently purchased two of Marybeth Heikes’ original watercolors for their offices in Urbandale. These watercolor paintings, from the “Chairs in the Jungle” series, are displayed in the patients waiting room located on 6200 Aurora Avenue.

Marybeth’s “Chairs in the Jungle” series is an in-progress series she began nineteen years ago, encouraged by a workshop instructor. The paintings combine the man-made elements of chair styles with plants and flowers. To date, there more than one hundred paintings in her series of “Chairs.” Many have been accepted in national competitions over the years and have won numerous awards and prizes. Most recently, they garnered the 2004 George Daily Purchase Award and First Place in the Iowa Watercolor Society Show in 2003.
