Engine Abstraction #10
Drawing these segments of train engines constantly challenges me to search for the most interesting designs. I work from my photographs and never notice all the details until I sit down and start drawing the design. The possibilities are endless, and I continue to get even more ideas once I start drawing. This design actually started with more detail, but I decided to crop the photo more. A lot of detail has been edited. The wheel patterns caught my attention and are combined in a palette of grays, black and blues. Some of the gray pigments are Golden’s heavy body Stainless Steel, which adds more texture to the painting.
