Winter Poppies
Flowers continue to inspire me, and I challenged myself to use an oblong format for this design. I referenced a variety of poppy sketches and photos. I had a rather nice sketch of a bright red poppy bouquet and decided to crop it to fit a frame I had in stock. After choosing the necessary hand-painted acrylic collage papers, I decided the background would look great using a marbled rose-colored paper purchased many years ago. I collect many different kinds of papers to use, in addition to the ones I paint. I enjoy the finished piece — the burgundy and reds are pleasing and the composition was a different avenue for me.
