Marybeth Heikes recently received the George Daily Purchase Prize for her watercolor painting Chairs Series #105 at the 36th Annual Art on the Square Festival in Oskaloosa on June 12. Her winning painting is part of the permanent collection at the George Daily Auditorium, where it will be displayed.

This painting is part of Heikes’ continuing series “Chairs in the Jungle,” which have been exhibited in numerous national and international shows. She has received many awards for these distinctive watercolors. Her paintings are characterized by strong, compositional designs and bold, brilliant colors. She currently has one of these, Chairs Series #120, on tour with the Iowa Watercolor Society’s show, and it won the first place award last year.
