Biking #2
In the back of my mind, I have always wanted to do another bicycle design in collage. When I received an invitation for an upcoming show with a bicycle theme, I got to work right away! I took a few photos of an antique bicycle, which was my reference for this composition. The main objective was a readable design in bright colors. I repeated the shapes using a close-up of the front end and another bicycle riding across the midsection. The background is an Iowa map and a circular pattern of the wheels. The other areas of interest are the spokes and their pie-shapes in between. I have used a primary triad in this collage: a saturated red, cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, lime and emerald green and pink.
