This design is a continuation of my figurative series. I was challenged to use a smaller, square format. The human figure works better in an elongated design space. I also wanted to try it with no beginning sketch. I began by cutting out shapes and working the compositional space. I decided to maintain a background free of clutter and added a single flower to balance the design; it adds to the summer atmosphere and flip-flops she’s wearing.
