This watercolor painting was the beginning of my “Daily Painting” series I began at the start of November. After setting up a still life with the miniature pumpkins and Shasta daisies, I lightly sketched the design on the smooth, hot press paper. I decided to use an easel and paint alla prima, in one sitting. Using the easel forced me to paint quickly and not get bogged down in details. Aquapasto watercolor medium was used to blend the pigments on paper and prevent the water from flowing across the paper. Pigments were blended together, and I allowed them to run and spread, giving a wet look to it.
