New Shows: IWS and Celebrate The Bicycle

May 25, 2013

My artwork is currently in two new shows: the Iowa Watercolor Society and “Celebrate the Bicycle!” Two of my watercolors,  License to Paint and Gordie’s and The American Legion are exhibited in the first annual IWS Miniature Watermedia show at the St. Mark Lutheran Church in West Des Moines. The intent of this show is to expand the opportunities for members to showcase their paintings in a unique setting and to challenge members to execute a painting in a miniature format (limited to an image size of 36 square inches).  This exhibit runs from May 17 to June 14. The gallery is located at 1105 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines and is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show can also be viewed online. It was a challenge for me to paint in the petite format — most of my paintings are full sheets, 22 x 30 inches.

Two of my acrylic collages,  Biking #1 and Biking #2, are part of this exhibit. My collages are assembled using my hand-painted papers and each are unique, one-of-a-kind designs. The Biking collages also have pieces of an Iowa map included in the design. This show opens May 25 and continues through June 30.
